Scope note

In hand papermaking, a frame fitted with a matrix, dipped into a slurry of water and fibers. The matrix catches the wet fibers, or pulp, and excess water drains through the matrix, leaving the pulp to dry and form a sheet of handmade paper. May be used with a deckle to help form the edges of the sheet of paper.
